5th Annual Biker Fusion - Daytona Bike Week

(February 21, 2012–Daytona, FL)  When event promoters Carrie Repp of R&R Promotions and Ken Conte of Rise Above Consulting first launched their ‘Biker Fusion’ fundraiser, they had no idea how much the motorcycle industry and other enthusiasts would take to the idea of coming together for a party during Daytona Beach Bike Week that would benefit a great cause.  Five years later and over 60 thousand dollars raised, both Conte and Repp wouldn’t have it any other way and are now organizing their 5th Annual Biker Fusion Party on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the Doghouse Bar and Grill on Main Street in Daytona.  The fundraiser will once again benefit Soldiers’ Angels, a volunteer-led non-profit that provides aid and comfort to active servicemen and women of the U.S. military as well as veterans and their families. Soldiers’ Angels go to great lengths to demonstrate care and concern for those who fight daily for our freedom and safety. (more…)

Muddle Beach

January 31st, 2012 | by: Robert Filla

We have a fierce firestorm brewing on the Eastern Seaboard with reports of irreparable damage, twisted egos and violent temper tantrums a distinct possibility—all this part of the tragic and constantly changing odyssey collectively known as Myrtle Beach Bike Week.

It all began on January 20, when Myrtle Beach Harley-Davidson made a surprising announcement. On that day the dealership made the stunning decision to move the date of Cruisin’ the Coast (that portion of the rally that they orchestrate and control each year) from May 12-20 to the beginning of the following weekend, changing it to run from May 18 through 28.

In an effort to justify the date revision, Myrtle Beach H-D event organizer, Denise Triece stated, “We are trying to incorporate Memorial Day events into the rally. The more things that we can put out and get out to the area will help our economy.”

This left a number of other biker venues in a lurch since they had already booked vendors at their sites on the original “carved in stone” date. In addition, the date change now overlaps the nearby Atlantic Beach Bikefest (a 3-day, sport bike oriented event), with both ending over the Memorial Day Weekend. (more…)

Old Indian in Las Vegas

January 4th, 2012 | by: Ken Aiken

On January 12, 2012 in Las Vegas, Bonhams will offer a 105-year old Indian motorcycle for auction.  It’s estimated to bring $80,000 and looks like scrap metal destined for the junk pile. Yet, this is something that makes the true collector’s heart race in anticipation: it’s an American classic in original condition. (more…)
