Elegant apes
Be the baddest primate on your block with the new Ape Hanger Handlebar System from Custom Cycle Control Systems, the leaders in über-clean handlebar set-ups and controls. These apes are offered in both 12″ and 16″ heights, are completely self-contained and fully assembled, and feature the awesome Climax Hand Controls the company is famous for. All wires, cables and hoses are internally routed, and the hydraulic reservoirs for both brake and clutch are concealed. Both chrome and black finishes are offered on the billet hand controls and the bars are offered either polished or powdercoated gloss black. There are six handgrip styles to choose from, and the installation is simplified by wiring color-matched to stock configurations. Additional options abound including Marker Light Hand Controls with complete systems starting at $2,395 including all necessary hardware to do the install.

Something on the side
Harley-Davidson’s new Softail Swingarm Bag provides riders of bare-boned cruisers a handy place to stash their stuff while simultaneously giving their ride some old-school panache. Constructed of heavy-grade leather finished in either smooth black or distressed brown, this rigid-backed bag has a flap lid with straps equipped with quick-release latches for ease of access and gives you 400 cubic inches of capacity—enough to hold your basic complement of riding requisites. An embossed Bar & Shield adorns the side panel, and installation or removal is a simple procedure using quick-release straps. The bag is suitable for all 2000-present Softail OEM models except the Rocker/C, and costs $179.95.

Ring of bling
If you’re one of those people who just can’t seem to get enough glitzy accessories for your scoot, the LED Halo Headlight Trim Ring is definitely your huckleberry. What we have here is a smooth shiny vanity ring studded with a circle of 19 bright white LED bulbs to add a whole lot of twinkle to your bike’s light array. They’re designed to fit pretty much every Touring model made since 1983 with the exception of the FLTs, and cost $89.99.

Fists of function
Keeping a good solid grip on your bike regardless of weather conditions is made easy by Harley-Davidson’s new Get-A-Grip Hand Grips. The trick is in the “tactified” surfaces that fill your fists with soft form-fitting cross-hatched rubber for both comfort and traction even should you choose to ride without gloves. (Shame on you.) Two thicknesses are available, standard size for standard-sized hands, and magnum for the ham-fisted among us. Either chrome or black trim is available, and the grips utilize a “glueless” design for ease of removal and replacement during servicing or customizing. They’ll fit on all ’97–present Touring models, and on all other Harley models from ’96–present, and cost $79.95 for the pair.

Sight saver
The Visormatic 6000 is designed to give your basic 3/4 shell helmet a partial face shield that’s quicker to attach than the traditional snap-on visor/shield we’re so accustomed to and yet superior in protection from wind and rain. Using a patented system of rubber tabs that tuck between the helmet shell and lining, the Visormatic puts a layer of protection right where it matters without leaving any openings for the elements to intrude and obscure the view. Nifty idea. Made of fog and impact-resistant polycarbonate, the Visormatic is extremely durable and looks cool to boot. Offered in clear, mirror and transitional shades, they go for an introductory price of $49.95.

Taillights for your head
A pair of LED fixtures highlights—literally—the new Night Rider LED Half Helmet from Harley-Davidson. The lights are operated by switches on the sides of the helmet, so when the sun goes down you can flip them on to raise your profile in the dark. Each LED fixture uses a single AAA battery good for about 14 hours of continuous illumination, which should be sufficient unless you’re touring the Arctic in the winter. A pair of front vents keeps the airflow optimal in warm conditions, and the liner is removable and washable. The Night Rider weighs in at a mere 2 pounds 6 oz. and will accept Harley’s RoadTech Bluetooth headset. The price is $195.

Freedom booster
The renowned speed freaks at Trask Performance now offer a line of Bolt-On Turbo Kits for Victory’s Freedom motors that promise to pump the power up to at least 135 horsepower. The kit includes a Garrett GT series ceramic ball-bearing turbocharger specially designed and tweaked for the Freedom mill as well as all the required plumbing and hardware, and the installation of the system can be executed, we’re told, in under seven hours. Kits are available for all Victory cruiser models and are offered in three finish options: black, polished/chrome and black/chrome. Prices start at $4,995.

Hybrid bagger
Softail riders who find themselves suffering from FLH envy when it comes to saddlebag capacity and appearance will be excited about the Bagger Tail for Softail Models created by Cycle Visions. The Bagger Tail brackets make it possible to mount any of the OEM Touring model ABS or leather-covered hard bags on any stock Heritage Classic or Softail Deluxe made since 1986, as well as on ’07–’09 Fat Boys without shotgun exhausts. Prices are $299.99 for black units and $399.99 for chrome jobs, and if you really want to finish the job up right you can add the optional Tail Filler Panels for ABS bags for another $195.99 and thus address any Street Glide envy issues you may have. Filler panels are also available for use with the leather-covered Touring bags at a cost of $199.99.

Expanded view
Riders with broad shoulders or narrow handlebars can both benefit from Kuryakyn’s Mirror Stem Extenders. These are two-piece sets that install at both the handgrip and mirror stem and serve to move the mirrors out three inches and slightly upward, giving you a significantly enhanced field of rear vision. They’ll extend any round-stemmed stock Harley-Davidson units and reuse the stock mounting hardware. They’re chrome-plated and priced at $34.95.
